CLINICAL SERVICE DESIGN + SUPPORT
We support the design, evaluation, and optimisation of clinical services by combining evidence, system knowledge, and stakeholder co-design, to ensure effective, sustainable outputs, that are responsive to real-world needs. Our approach to clinical service design typically includes a combination of:
- Needs assessment and gap analysis to identify unmet demand, service bottlenecks, or access barriers.
- Review of best practice models through literature, grey literature, jurisdictional scans and site visits.
- Co-design with clinicians, consumers, and service providers to ensure the model reflects frontline realities.
- Service pathway mapping and redesign to improve integration, coordination, and patient experience.
- Costing and implementation feasibility using economic and strategic analysis tools.
- Development of implementation resources including clinical protocols, referral pathways, and training materials.
- Advisory board facilitation including the establishment and management of clinical, consumer, and cross-sector advisory groups to guide design decisions, validate service models, and support implementation.
We readily partner with healthcare providers, funders, and policymakers to design and support clinical services that are evidence-based, person-centred, and implementation-ready. Our work spans the full-service lifecycle – from early-stage model development through to implementation, evaluation and scale-up – ensuring alignment with clinical best practice, policy priorities, and workforce realities. Our typical outputs include:
- Patient pathway mapping – Visualises the patient journey across the continuum of care to identify gaps, duplication, and opportunities for improved coordination and experience.
- Models of care and service delivery design – Defines the structure, functions, workforce roles, and processes needed to deliver high-quality care tailored to local needs and system capabilities.
- Clinical implementation plans – Outlines the steps, enablers, and risks for operationalising new or revised models of care, including governance, training, resources, and timelines.
- Advisory board facilitation – Design and facilitate strategic advisory boards that engage key decision-makers to generate insight, test ideas and build consensus
- Clinical guidelines development – Support the structured development of high-quality, evidence-based clinical guidelines that standardise care and improve patient outcomes
